| Dr.
Trantham has been practicing psychotherapy for approximately 16 years. He
graduated from the University of Florida (Gainesville) in 1999 with a Ph.D.
in clinical psychology. While his pre-doctoral training at the University
of Florida emphasized cognitive-behavioral approaches to treating psychological
disorders, Dr. Trantham's interests in understanding personality development
drew him to develop an interpersonal/relational approach to therapy. Psychological
and neuropsychological assessment has allowed him to integrate and better
understand the forces that affect child, adolescent, and adult development.
Dr. Trantham's career has focused on working with children, adolescents and adults who experience various forms of abuse as well as understanding how neurocognitive issues interfere with learning, forming relationships, and self-development. In addition, Dr. Trantham has much experience addressing multicultural and gay, lesbian and bisexual issues through psychotherapy, including working with multiracial families, addressing questions related to sexual identity and coming out.
