Psychological & Neuropsychological Assessment

My primary goal is to help my clients understand the problems that led them to contact me. Through a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation, I will create a plan to help maximize your strengths and succeed in your relationships and academic experiences.

» Making an Appointment

After contacting me by phone or email, we will likely have a brief phone conversation to discuss you or your child's needs, as well as to develop a tentative plan of action.

» Clinical Interview

A clinical interview is an important part of the assessment process; this allows me to more fully understand the data derived from testing and provide you with a more meaningful interpretation of the testing results.

» Testing

Depending on the clinical issue, testing may take several hours. Testing is often completed over the course of two or more meetings, depending on the clinical issue and individual; however, for some clients testing can be completed in one session. Sometimes additional testing is required, depending on the purpose of the evaluation, in order to provide the most thorough and accurate assessment as possible for you or your child.

» Report

The evaluation report is typically completed within two weeks after the final testing session. While the report will involve analysis and review of highly technical information, my goal is to provide you with a report that does not rely on technical jargon and is written in plain language. Test findings will be placed in a context that makes them easy to understand, and recommendations will be clear and specific. My goal is to provide clients with a report that helps them access the supports needed for academic success.

» Feedback

In addition, a feedback session is also an important part of the assessment process. This meeting is where I will review not only the test results and recommendations, but also review any concerns and questions you might have regarding the assessment and report.

Psychotherapy

» Intake Interview

A clinical interview is also an important part of psychotherapy; this allows me to gather data that will be useful in shaping my treatment approaches. In addition, this is an opportunity for you to see if there is a good fit in terms of our working together. I encourage you to interview several clinicians to make certain you are comfortable with the therapist who will work with you.

» Sessions

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. Most sessions with children and adolescents will be individual meetings; however, some sessions may involve parents, guardians, siblings, and other family members important in the client's life.
